Or: Why getting married on a rainy day isn’t that bad after all
Oh boy, it is a bit of challenging this year in Switzerland to get married with beautiful weather. It seems like sunny weather only exists from Sunday to Friday and the clouds and the rain are back every Saturday – well, not every Saturday but a lot of Saturdays during this years wedding high season.
And I actually can sympathize with every bridal couple: It was raining cats and dogs on our own wedding day, even though every time we had something placed outside it suddenly stopped raining. And it may sound like a cliche but I actually didn’t care on our wedding day. But something I will remember for the rest of my life was the atmosphere during our ceremony. We got married in a quite tiny church and while outside it was raining strongly, inside of the church with all its people and candles: that was kind of coziness perfection.
A ceremony itself can be the most emotional part of your whole wedding day and you may be quite nervous as well, so in my opinion it is very important for the bridal couple to feel at ease. And let’s be honest: Having a ceremony placed outside around noon while it’s 30 degrees is sooo not relaxing. Not to mention that there are a bunch of other good reasons for a late ceremony (Isabel Sacher recently blogged about it – check it out, I totally agree with her!). So every time someone is asking me, if I would get married the same way – and as wedding vendor you hear that question a lot – I answer – as you also may have thought – no, not all. As a professional you get to know and learn so much more than I could have as I was «just» a bride. But: There was at least one thing – there are of course a few others – on our wedding day who was seriously just p-e-r-f-e-c-t and I would do almost the exact same way and that was our ceremony. And one of the reasons why is because it was that cozy – I really felt at ease and enjoyed every second of it.
When it was raining on L. & S. wedding day and we arrived at the Church I had kind of a flashback to my own wedding and after decorating the Church I would have liked to stay – with all the candles and the rain outside it was so very inviting …
Thank you L. & S. for your unwavering trust in our work – it’s been a great honor to do your flowers and decor. And you both just looked gorgeous. Wishing you all the best!
You all enjoy the pictures.
